Welcome to the world of Cross Country Skiing!

Few – if any - things in life are as beautiful as a snow-covered mountain scenery… If you want to experience Norwegian winter at its best, we recommended to give one of our skiing experiences a try!

You may have heard the old saying “Norwegians are born with skis on their feet”.

Modern skiing was actually invented in Norway, and Norwegians of all ages spend lots of time in the many cross country skiing tracks during the winter. To get a sense of why cross-country skiing is so popular in Norway – check out our various offers:

Cross country skiing (skating)

You may have seen cross country skiing or biathlon on TV

The skating technique is the most effective way to hit the cross-country skiing tracks. If you have experience from downhill skiing, skating is also much easier to learn than the classic technique.

We offer a wide range of courses in skating:
  • Beginner: For those who have never had skis on their feet before
  • A little experienced: For those who have tried cross country skiing with classic technique before, but never tried skating
  • Advanced: For those who have tried skating before, but want to improve their technique
 "Påsketur» - Back country skiing

The author Tom Stalsberg has published a book about the art of skiing slowly- a tribute to the special Norwegian phenomenon back country skiing.

While cross country skiing requires a certain fitness level, traditional back country skiing is accessible to everybody! Back country skiing is literally walking - with skis on your feet. For this activity we use a special kind of mountain skis, which are unique to Norway. The skis are wider than normal cross-country skis and can thus be used outside prepared tracks.

Just as important as the actual skiing - is the break! In the middle of the mountain, we serve the classic Norwegian skiing meal, consisting of: Hot chocolate, a special Norwegian chocolate bar called “Kvikk Lunsj” and an orange! Why? These are, believe it or not, the traditional foods Norwegians carry in their backpacks when they go back country skiing! For a truly authentic experience, we can also arrange a campfire meal.

We also arrange other cross country skiing experiences on request.
